Initially, the Great Diapason was placed outside the swell box in the new
music room, spanning the space between the two enclosures. The pipes
were just too loud in that location. With a great deal of maneuvering,
the Diapason was squeezed in behind the harp within the enclosure.
The harp has the longest resonators (bass) on the right. The Diapason
has its bass on the left. The point where the harp resonators extend
over the diapason chest is also the point where the ascending pipes will
fit under the resonators--with one inch to spare!
