Echo Chest Interior

The interior of the Echo Chest shows ventil construction for a diatonic chest.  In this picture, the four rank echo chest has three sets of internal rail boards removed.  Visible is one set of pipe valves which are not rail mounted, but rather are mounted on the chest wall.  The pipe valves are in the form of pallets.   Also, the center section reveals the stop valves which are operated by pneumatics.

In this view, the chest is on its side and the bottom of the chest is closest to the camera.  The holes along the bottom board are air channels from the primary valves (not pictured) which match holes in the chest bottom boards that are individually spread out behind the chest.  Each of those bottom boards has internal wind channels that carry wind to the pallet rails.  All leather and felt, as well as eye screws are newly replaced in this photo.

The entire organ has about 2,400 of these pallet valves and all have been restored.
