Installing the Restored Jackbox

Here is the completed jackbox being installed.  Jarrod is soldering the wires on the junction board.  The teleco cable can be seen going up the wall and to the right where it will proceed to the punch down block array.  One cable carries the input stream for controlling the jack toggles.  The input stream comes from the MIDI system or the roll player (Concertola), depending which system is in use.   The other cable is the output from the toggles and carries signals to the the stops, couplers, and swell shades.

The wind is supplied by 3 inch PVC pipe.  The entire organ is winded through PVC pipe that generally runs between floor joists and then turns up or down to supply various parts.  In this picture, the pipe continues to the right to supply wind to the relay and coupler systems.   At the right of the jackbox is a small regulator for the jackbox.. Just below the regulator is the player sforzando switch which is enclosed.   This switch is programmable so that any resource may be included in the sforzando function.

After this picture was taken, the area where Jarrod is standing became the location for the swell engine for the Swell enclosure.    A system of cables and pulleys actuates the shutters, and the bulky (and noisy) swell engine is in the uncrowded basement area below the Swell enclosure.
