Some Easy Codes

Remember to use the symbols for greater-than and less-than around each abbreviation.

BR = Page Break; two of these will give a blank line between the paragraphs
P = Paragraph and you need to shut this one off with a /P.

Font sizes:
H2 = is largest
H3 = large
H4 = is similar to bold
b = bold
These will also need to be turned off with the /

"&,n,b,s,p,;" is the signal to leave a space only leave out the commas and quotes. To do a series of these, you will want to highlight these six digits, then Ctl-C. That puts it in your working memory. Then every time you want to use it, just hold down the shift key and hit the "insert" key.

This is a way to create an outline. You can use the symbols on the line above your typing to get a better idea of how your page will look.

Check out the Source page by going through View on your toolbar. You can see how someone else did theirs. If you like their page color and font colors, just copy and paste it to your page.

Building Simple Links

The most common links you will be using are those to your own site, those to outside sites, and those for emails.

The easiest are those to your files within your host's site. For those just write:
[A HREF="(name of your own file within the quotes)"][the link word and[/A] substituting the greater-than and lesser-than symbols for the brackets.

You can see this at View-Source Hildebrand Exchange

Another link you will need is to a different site with a different host. In this case, go to the site and copy/paste the URL between the quotes. It will be longer and include the http://. For instance our query exchange is at: McClung and the URL was pasted to this page. (See View Source).

To make a link to email from your site, just give this instruction:
[A HREF="mailto:(then insert their email addy)"Their Name[/A] substituting for the brackets. You can see a whole page of these at: McClung Researchers

That's all there is to it. Fun, isn't it?

You can see that this opens up a realm of possiblities for communication.

Address: You should put at the bottom of the page the date you began the page, a line to add update dates, and your name if you developed the page. These three lines will need breaks at the end of them. Also start with the instruction: [address] and a line at the end to shut off address. This will put it in italics. You may also center this if you like.
