- North Highway 5, from Atchley Park--you can follow the shoulder for
many miles, past the BB, Eldridge and VV turnoffs, then hang a right and
come back via the Waste Management facility road. Taking BB instead
will lead you to Sleeper, and you can come back to town via the Speedway
Hill and old 66. Taking the Eldridge and VV turnoffs will lead you
into more "rural" areas of the county!
- St. John's of Lebanon (Breech)--follow Tower Road across Hwy. 32,
all the way to its end. From there, if you're game, you can turn left
and head to Russ--turn right and you head back to South 5.
Alternatively, take Tower Road south to Emerson Road, turn east and go through
some beautiful working farms, and finally ending up (as it turns into Ripley
Road) with a very quiet downhill where it joins into a county road heading
north/south. Head south, and you can go to hwy HH, and either go out and
back through Russ or loop back to tower….ending up easily w/20 miles or so.
Heading back to the north at the end of Ripley Road takes you back to what was
known as Pine Tree Road, and then the options go from there.
- Outer Road (Sleeper and Stoutland)--follow old 66 to the Sleeper
and Stoutland exits. You can create a loop by using the county road
that joins Stoutland and Sleeper. Past the Stoutland exit, follow N
and there are some serious hills--eventually, you will see MM to follow back
into town, or keep going to Hwy. 32.
- Outer Road (KOA and Phillipsburg)--start at the truck port, and
follow the outer road to the KOA exit or the Phillipsburg exit. Past
Phillipsburg, it is possible to follow a county road across Hwy. 32 to OO to
Bennett, and come back to town from Bennett on a gravel road that eventually
reaches WW and AA--that loop is more than 40 miles.
- Dove/Morgan Road--southeast of town, take Morgan Road to Dove, take
Dove Road west which leads to the KOA exit, then take the outer road back to
what I believe is Edison--it is the first paved county road heading west from
old 66, this leads to the metropolitan area of Brush Creek, which is a
railroad crossing and delinquent general store, take this road north, which
comes to another county road (paralleling the first) take this west further to
Neosho Road, which heads north to AA hwy, and options include cutting back to
town on Finch Road (New Buffalo Road) or back on Gateway, which is nice
through Goodwin hollow, or take AA to Oak Bend for a whoop’de’doop up and down
ride looping back to Gateway.
- Sleeper/Stoutland loop--A perfect fall ride, heading on the outer
road to Sleeper, where I like to pick up hwy JJ to Stoutland, head north on
hwy T to Pritchett Road which is nice pavement back to hwy BB, then back to
town (~60 miles)
- Conway long ride--head out to Conway, cut over to Morgan, then hwy
PP back to Morgan Road and back to town (~50 miles).
