"I'm so glad we had this time together...Tra la, la,la." Okay, you're here to read so let's get started. It's a two-for-one deal again this month. Two of these were my January submissions but since January will not exist for Superhero Fiction they go live today! First, let's start out with Frank Byrns story Damascus Road . Notice anything different about its structure? It's pure dialogue! Flows like a crystal brook. You're good, Frank. Supergood. And T. Mike McCurley just keeps getting better. This time he takes us to Vegas (actually to the very casino I stayed in last April!) in Luck and gives us a realistic peek at how super types would use their powers in the "real" world. Loved it. Next is ShF newcomer, Eric Isaacson, with For the Uniform. I think Eric has a lot to offer the genre. In this tale, he looks at what it's like to carry the torch for a previous hero. It's a good character-driven piece that is different even for this publication. ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! You know what's great about running an ezine? Once you go to press, you can still keep changing things! Today is Dec. 8 and I'm adding another story to the site. It's by newcomer Paul McManus and it's called Change of Perspective. It came in after I announced the merger and I couldn't help but publish it. Finally I have one coming that I haven't posted yet. It's call Capes: No Businees Like Monkey Business by newcomer Hector Acosta and it will be one of the first superhero fiction stories that handles humor without reverting to parody. Unfortunately, I'm having a tough time formatting the story (line breaks vs. paragraphs) and it's not ready to fly yet. But when it does...you'll see....you'll see. To everybody: Have I accepted something of yours that hasn't been published yet? Sometimes I space out. (Ask T. Mike). Let me know and we'll pull the trigger and get you into electrons this December. |
